BODEGA BOX OFFICE
A podcast about movies and the rappers who make them.
Ryan and Anthony are the hosts/best friends/quasi-film critics behind the Bodega Box Office podcast. One is a film glutton, the other is a rap encyclopedia. They watch and discuss rap movies - films written by, produced by, directed by or starring hip hop artists. Follow on Apple Podcasts.

Ryan and Anthony visit the West Coast, or at least watch a movie featuring the golden state. Bay Area rap GAWD Andre Nickatina stars in this biopic(?) about a day in the life of a San Francisco rap legend.
Watch 50 Cent, Gerard Butler, and Liev Schreiber’s brother in the underrated Den Of Thieves. Frequent contributor and film EXPERT Sean McTiernan (@nochorus) stopped by and chose this banger for us to watch and analyze. And as always, he chose a good one for this episode.
It’s spooky season! Bodega Box Office official horror movie podcast episode: too many actors, not enough kills, and Matthew Lillard in his peak spittle phase. The movie is somehow better than the description, and this podcast episode meets somewhere in the middle of your high/low expectations.
Busta Rhymes brings it as a truly frightening villain in the 2009 film BREAKING POINT. Sticky Fingaz has a smaller role but doesn't disappoint. We liked this movie at a perfectly paced 97 minutes, but there are some graphic depictions of domestic violence that made it kind of hard to watch.
Curtis Snow’s biopic SNOW ON THA BLUFF may be a slight stretch to call a rap movie, but he technically is a rapper. And J Cole backed this movie aggressively. We had a mostly non-reaction to the film. But the mixtape that followed it is pure gold.
Benny and Bjorn from Abba joined forces with Tim Rice to create the musical masterpiece CHESS. Sound is a bit suspect on this episode because we did it remotely and budget constraints are real. If you can hang with the sound quality we think you’ll find this a thoroughly enjoyable conversation. We get a little political, but that’s OK. Your annoying libertarian uncle doesn’t listen to this podcast anyways.
I ACCIDENTALLY DOMED YOUR SON is a movie that we’ve been meaning to watch for a long time. It was panned by the critics, but who gives a shit? It has a script, a plot, good jokes, and great sound. And Kurupt is in it!! Ant digs deep in the crates for some unreleased Kurupt to finish the show.
🚨 Emergency podcast episode to honor fallen legend Tommy "Tiny" Lister. We chose NO HOLDS BARRED starring Zeus Lister, Hulk Hogan, Kurt Fuller, Jesse Ventura and David Paymer. Music by Matlock and Boosie featuring Hurricane Chris.
On this episode we watched the “musical”(?) QUEEN OF THE DAMNED starring Aaliyah, Stuart Townsend, Marguerite Moreau, Lena Olin and Paul McGann and featuring music by Jonathan Davis of Korn. We try our hardest to celebrate Aaliyah but veer towards a conversation about Nu metal and some surprising crossovers into the rap world. We make up for it by playing some FIRE Aaliyah songs at the end.
